Event Details

Building confidence in public speaking was identified by our young engineers as one of the most important areas for their career development, particularly as they move from graduate roles to more senior positions. Whether it's speaking up in a meeting, pitching to a client, delivering a presentation or networking, enhancing your abilities to speak articulately and with influence is an essential skill for building your reputation and accelerating career progression.

This six (6) session program has been developed in collaboration with Shil Shanghavi, Chatterchief at Chatterbox Public Speaking (https://www.chatterboxps.com.au/) and Young Engineers WA.

A speaker coach for TEDxPerth, Shil brings two decades of creative speaking techniques and will work with you to become a confident presenter, guiding you to find your own speaking style.

He has developed models and techniques which show you how to control your emotions and use your experiences to craft stories, so you can deliver memorable presentations anytime, anywhere to any audience.

Limited to just 15 places, the program will be run over three months with a time commitment of three hours per fortnight. Each fortnight covers a different topic with opportunities to practice as you go.  As each cohort completes the course, you will be invited to be part of the program’s alumni with further opportunities to meet up and practice your newfound skills over the course of the year.

The program sessions are outlined below.  We recommend you add these to your calendar at the time of registering. Register now to secure your place.
