EngConnect your Career is an Engineers Australia initiated event series for students, graduates and industry professionals looking to transition their career keen to hear from engineers about where their engineering studies have taken them. This session will feature speakers from mechanical engineering disciplines and showcase the diversity of career opportunities. After a welcome to Engineers Australia, a number of engineers will share their career stories with you, followed by networking with speakers, and engineers from a number of our technical groups.

Hear from and then network with mechanical engineers that have significant expertise in design and solving unique problems in the field of sub-sea, robotics, the energy sector, airborne technologies, stress analysis in human knee joints and defence. Next level diverse.

This evening's event line-up includes: 

MC - Elyse Hudson
Design Engineer, Bradken

Elyse moved to Perth from NSW three years ago to take up a role as a Design Engineer with Bradken in its Mining Fixed Plant wear solutions team. She is a current member of the Western Australian Mechanical Engineering Committee.
Prior to this role, Elyse was a Graduate Engineer with Thales at the Lithgow Small Arms Factory. She completed her Final Year Project on modelling the human knee joint for stress analysis

Cliff Green
Director at Geng P/L

Recognized by Engineers Australia in 2016 as one of Australia’s 50 Most Innovative Engineers, Cliff has 30 years’ experience in providing consulting engineering design support to Defence special forces training facilities around Australia. Cliff’s design work includes live fire training facilities, equipment, targets, ballistic barriers, bullet splash protection and fire hazard reduction.

Mike von Bertouch
Director at Innovaero

Mike von Bertouch will be joining us having recently returned from the Darwin to Coffs Harbour Outback Air Race flying as The Black Opal Team. He is an aerospace and mechanical systems engineer who currently sits on the National Committee on Engineering Design. He was a key participant in the launch of Nearmap, developing the initial airborne technologies.

Dana Crier
Mechanical Engineer
Aurecon

Dana is a mechanical engineer who works at Aurecon in the Resources and Industrials team. With the major focus on design projects for sustaining capital clients, focussing on process systems and bulk material handling.

Shane Parker
Engineering Manager at Zenith Energy

Shane has over 20 years of engineering experience in the design of mechanical systems. He has been on the National Committee on Engineering Design and has significant expertise in solving difficult and unique mechanical engineering problems, specifically in the field of sub-sea, robotics, and the energy section.

Dr David Miller
Managing Director, DSM Consulting

Dr David Miller is a mechanical engineer with over 30 years’ experience in design. Dr Miller has utilised his experience in the medical field, where he has completed research and development for several successful medical products. His work includes involvement in the development of the dTip needles, which won the major State of Western Australia grant.
