This webinar is part of the YEA Collaboration Series and will discuss how bringing design and innovation together with collaboration provides an opportunity for the realisation of new ideas.
In this presentation, Madeleine will share her insights in her role in Health & Safety where she has identified an opportunity to bring innovation and digital tools into H&S through the use of 360VR. Despite not being an engineer, Madeleine saw the ability to apply design tools and frameworks when exploring the use of 360 videos to provide employees a realistic yet safe experience of high-risk work and construction sites from the safety of the office.
The key to bringing this idea to life was stakeholder mapping and engagement, followed by communication planning and change management. Madeleine was the lead of such a project from inception to execution, visiting sites internationally to plan, consult and film the VR videos, edit the videos and launch through an internal training platform. Through the design tool of stakeholder mapping, it was identified a variety of users and their skill levels to identify possible barriers and usability to issues.
After identifying these users, their experience and possible interaction with the product was mapped out in order to create the best experience for each user type. At the heart of design, is collaboration and the need to identify this early on through the use of a design tools thereby demonstrating that you can bring design to any challenge within the workplace.

Madeleine Page
Health & Safety Business Partner, Victoria & South Australia, Aurecon
Madeleine Page is the Health & Safety Business Partner at Aurecon for the Victorian and South Australian regions. She graduated with a Bachelor of OHS Science (Hons) from the University of Qld and first begun her career in the regulator and the construction industries before moving into professional services. Madeleine is one of youngest Business Partners under 30 in Aurecon to sit on a Regional Leadership team. She now has over 7 years’ experience across the utilities, construction and engineering industries. She balances experience in safety with a strong passion for mental health and wellbeing, and support for young workers. Madeleine believes that the key to team success is an inclusive team culture that enables innovation, fosters psychological safety, encourages people to voice their issues and ideas for safety, and empowers people to prioritise their wellbeing inside and outside of work to be successful.
