Please join us as we celebrate those within our community as they share with us their experience and knowledge on a range of engineering projects.

To showcase those from all different stages within their career, we've put together presentations highlighting three contrasting engineering fields covering drone technology in land surveying, materials technology and facial recognition technology.

Speakers

Tessa Kore and Chris Scholes

Tessa Kore and Chris Scholes from Orion Consulting will be delivering a presentation on the use of commercial drone technology used in Australia’s airspace for land surveying. They will cover topics on drone hardware, processing methods, survey accuracy and legislative requirements. Tessa Kore is Orion’s Chief Drone Pilot, holding a Remote Pilot Licence (RePL) with CASA and has 4 years’ experience in the property development industry. She has worked on projects to the scale of 500ha+ undertaking drone survey data collection flights. Working alongside her is Chris Scholes, who is a Civil Engineer at Orion Consulting with over 7 years’ experience as a design engineer. Both Tessa and Chris are passionate about improving safety, developing new methods and workflows, and increasing accuracy in data collection. Luke Stone

Luke Stone from Hatch’s Centre of Excellence in Granular Flow Performance team (Wollongong) will be presenting on Multiphysics modelling of the phenomenon known as ‘Silo Quaking’. This will include an introduction to the complex system and a recent case study followed by a breakdown of the design flow and results.

Luke is a bulk materials handling and discrete element modelling SME working globally on projects including Africa, Brazil, Canada, Indonesia, and Australia. He has experience with a wide range of materials including:

  • Hard rock ores (Copper and Gold)
  • Cohesive ores (bauxite and iron)
  • Metallurgical Coal
  • Concentrates and Filter Cakes (Magnetite and Haematite)
  • Free-flowing materials (Alumina, Raw and Product Potash)

Over the past 6 years Luke has developed designs covering a variety of configurations tailored specifically to each material leveraging his PHD research and the latest in software advancements from a range of providers, including:

  • Altair (EDEM, MotionSolve, Optistruct and Hyperworks)
  • ESSS (Rocky)
  • AcTek (Newton and Sidewinder)
  • ANSYS (Fluent)
